What's the Big Trip?

Travel through India, Nepal, and hopefully China/Thailand/Vietnam/Laos from mid-October to December. Go back here for the holidays. And if I still have money left, travel again.

Are you feeling some sort of pain right now? That's right. That's what I felt too when I first saw this picture.

Mt. Pulag: First Attempt

6-hour bus ride to Baguio City. 2-hour jeepney ride to DENR for the orientation. 1.5-hour bumpy ride to the Rangers' Station. 2.5-hour trek to the camp site. 1-hour trek to the Summit with only our headlamps as sources of light.

It rained, it was windy, it was really cold, and the trail was muddy and slippery. Almost zero visibility. And we weren’t lucky enough to be given the chance to catch the famous sunrise and sea of clouds up in the Summit. Mother Nature decided that it wasn’t yet the time for me, for us, to witness one of her most beautiful shows. But I will be patient and I will be back. :)

What stuck with me though is the trek from the Summit going back to the camp site. It was foggy, it was cold, and there really wasn’t much view to appreciate. But it was very peaceful and serene. It’s probably what drives the mountaineers to endure those long and hard treks. If it is, I understand them more now. It is indeed very rewarding.

Nevertheless, it was still a very memorable trip especially when shared with your best friends. Thanks to Mayen (girl, I’m so proud of you!), Kat, Kacel, Paul, Tin, and, Paolo. For the fun times especially during our jeepney ride. And the needed body heat. :P

To Travel Factor, the tour group, and to the great cooks/travel coordinators – Louie, Patrick, and Ron. The best ang sopas! Salamat sa adventure and keep inspiring people to travel. Sa uulitin! :)

25th in Macau : The Big Jump!

'Why live on the edge when you can jump off?'

It was my 25th birthday thing. Why? I don't really have a specific reason. All I know is that it's in my life's to-do-list. I've always dreamed it would be in New Zealand, but Macau came along and i thought of just grabbing the opportunity. And I'm so glad I did!

Laid-back Siem Reap

We arrived in Siem Reap early in the afternoon and I had no idea what the place looks like. A few meters from the airport, I was more than surprised to see the beautiful and grand hotels that line up the streets of Siem Reap. Just imagine the number of tourists that visit the temples in order for the hotels to maintain their operations.

Mr. Sam

Mr. Sam, our tour guide, is around 5'6" tall, light brown, lean, and speaks good English. He's already in his 50's but he doesn't look it. He looks younger, which for me, is amazing.

He was a survivor of the civil war and Khmer Rouge occupation.
